Eventually, the unique features become popular across other countries.

At the second Google for India event in Delhi, Google announced YouTube Go. The company continued Google’s legacy of creating data efficient products and announced YouTube Go.

Microsoft Windows 10 Is Now Running On 400 Million “Active Devices”

At the Microsoft Ignite Conference, the company announced that the Windows 10 OS has reached 400 million active devices. A 100 million jump has been observed since May 5 when Redmond recorded 300 million active devices.

Launched in 2015, Windows 10 is the biggest operating system release from Microsoft which puts an end to major upgrades in the Windows update cycle. The Windows 10 OS was rigorously promoted by Redmond who didn’t leave any marketing strategy to install the OS on users’ computers. The free upgrade campaign soon turned into a forced upgrade campaign.

At the Ignite conference, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 currently running on 400 million active devices including personal computers, smartphones, tablets, Xbox one gaming consoles, HoloLens, and Surface Hubs.

The numbers have jumped from 300 million active devices recorded on May 5, 2016. A device running Windows 10 in the last 28 days can be tagged as an active device.

400 million active devices may sound “whopping” to most people but for Microsoft, it is a matter of little concern. The Windows-maker eyed a Windows 10 consumer base 1 billion by the end of 2018 but the figure seems hard to achieve considering the current numbers.

We have been regular in publishing the lists of best torrent websites on the internet for the last two years. The year 2016 reached has its second half, so we thought to update the list with any latest additions. Continuing the legacy further, we are now writing about the top 10 most popular torrent websites of 2016 which are also the alternatives to the dead KAT.

Before starting the compilation, let us guide you through the recent updates in the torrent world. We are well aware of the KickassTorrents losing its life and then coming back from the dead with new domain names Dxtorrent and KAT.am. This happened due to the arrest of its alleged founder, Artem Vaulin. Following the takedown of KickassTorrents, the movie streaming website Solarmovie also disappeared from the internet.

Torrents are a good medium to share files over the internet but people have used them to promote distribution of illegal content and earn money from it. Do keep in mind, using a torrent website is completely legal, unless, you indulge yourself in downloading pirated movies and songs.

We have curated this list of popular torrent websites in 2016 based on their popularity on the internet.

Facebook Celebrates Star Trek’s 50th anniversary with new ‘Like’ Buttons

Happy 50th Anniversary Star Trek! Facebook celebrates with new like buttons

If you are a Star Trek fan, you will definitely love this bit of news! The popular cult sci-fi series which many of us grew up watching is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016. To honour the creation of Star Trek: The Original Series. To mark the occasion and celebrate the franchise’s milestone, the world’s most popular social media site, Facebook has created custom ‘Like’ buttons for users and a temporary profile picture frame.

The ground-breaking show, which was launched on September 8, 1966 on NBC, was cancelled three years into its mission. “Star Trek'” showed a utopian future for the universe in which a cast of international fictional characters, including Americans working side-by-side with Russian and Japanese characters in the middle of the Cold War, featured exploration rather than fighting, as well as peace between not only the people of earth and aliens, like the Vulcan character Spock, but also among races on Earth itself.

In a statement by Lindsey Shepard, the social network’s marketing lead for Messenger, explained the creation of the Star Trek Reactions:

“In addition to the greeting and profile frames, we decided to add another element to the celebration with custom Star Trek Reactions. In order to make this understood by all Star Trek fans, we chose the most iconic and recognizable characters and symbols from the original Star Trek series, as well as the Next Generation. We also wanted to honor the original design and spirit of Reactions, so we needed visual cues that were easy to identify at a glance, like Geordi’s visor. This led us to our final cast: Kirk, Spock, Geordi and a Klingon.

“In our custom set of Reactions, “like” stays true to form but with a little added sparkle, and “love” is represented by the Vulcan salute. We also think it makes sense that Kirk, as the first captain, is first up after “like” and “love,” and that a Klingon should be the “angry” Reaction, given that they are easily agitated.

“These Reactions will be available to some Star Trek fans in the U.S. and Canada for a limited time, and will appear when you hover over the like button on a post.

“This project has truly been a labor of love. We hope that people find as much joy in using these different celebratory elements as we have in creating them. We may test experiences like this in the future, and will focus on community and moment-driven events like this one.

“Live long and prosper.”

This is not the first time that the social media giant has played with the buttons. Facebook had tested out a temporary reaction earlier this year for Mother’s Day by adding in a flower.
